I just got back (well, a week ago) from visiting the Menendez Family farms in El Salvador! We have been buying coffee from their farms for the past five years, and they just keep getting better. The amount of detail and care they put into their operation continues to amaze me
Randy Evans was in San Francisco to receive a 2016 Good Food Award for our Kenya Gatundu Karinga, becoming the region's only 2 time Winner!
We had an incredible time at Coffee Fest Portland 2015. Evans Brothers Won 3rd Place in the prestigious America's Best Coffeehouse competition! According to Coffee Fest, "America's Best Coffeehouse competition has been developed to determine and acknowledge the three best coffeehouses regionally in North America"
The origin trip to Brazil was at the end of September for 10 days. The trip was organized by one of our importing partners that we purchase some of our coffee through, Atlas Coffee Importers, and included three other roasting companies, Broadcast Coffee from Seattle, Cafe Grumpy from New York, and Hunter Bay from Montana. We flew to Sao Paulo, and toured the heart of Brazils coffee growing region in Minas Gerais.
It’s still hot at 9 p.m. when I pull up to Evans Brothers Coffee Roasters in Sandpoint, Idaho. It’s summertime quiet—the streets are empty except for a carful of teenagers that drives past after I park. The shop was already closed for the day, the sun slowly darkening the streets around it.
Sunday's K9 Keg Pull at Evans Brothers, the finale to Sandpoint's Winter Carnival, was once again an incredible community event for all ages.
It was an exciting day when our new Giesen W15 Roaster arrived! Randy has been privileged to roast on top quality machines by Diedrich and Probat, but this particular roaster is the perfect fit for our needs as we grow and evolve. We are so excited for the potential to further improve upon the nuances and sweetness of our best coffees, which we so carefully source.
Finally, after a brand redesign and a year after embarking on the bag redesign with Factory North of Portland, our new bags and labels are here! Seeing them all lined up on shelves together makes quite an impact, and we couldn't be happier with the end result.
We search for the very best coffees available from particular regions, but we get particularly interested when our work with that coffee can make a direct impact in the world.
