Carefully tended and shade-grown by local Sumatran farmers, Gayo Mountain coffee is grown on the hillsides surrounding the towns of Takegon and Lake Tawar, at the northern tip of Sumatra. The farmers and surrounding community benefit directly from this coffee’s production, with revenues used to develop the community and empower the people with educational needs.
